The Dada Lady of the Sonnets

WHO: POTP class members, Jack Ross, Michele Leggott, Helen Sword and Tim Page, with assistance from Tristan Tzara, Basil Bunting and William Shakespeare.
OBJECTIVE: in the spirit of Dada performance, to remix and extend selected sonnets for redistribtuion to the web on the occasion of the 445th birthday and/or deathday of William Shakespeare.
OUTCOME: Photos, text and video will be uploaded to Jack's blog 23 April as a multiple instance of performance, archiving and digital gift economy.
HOW IT WILL WORK
- Jack's instructions are here
- In groups of 3 collect a sonnet, scissors, glue and backing sheet, and reassemble your text in lines of roughly 10 syllables
- As your text emerges word by word from the envelope, glue it on paper and type it into an email to send to Jack (jack.ross@xtra.co.nz)
- Incorporate an appropriate sentence from Basil Bunting's essay 'The Poet's Point of View' (Coursebook) into yout text, and plan a performance of the whole that seems to you true to the occasion
- Perform your Dada sonnet for release to the blogosphere 23 April
